Vibration Feeder: An Essential Component in Material Handling
The vibration feeder is a crucial piece of industrial equipment designed to transport bulk materials reliably and efficiently. Its primary function is to feed crushing machinery continuously and evenly, ensuring a consistent and controlled flow of raw materials such as ore, coal, rock, aggregate, or recycled concrete. This steady supply is vital for optimizing crusher performance and preventing blockages or uneven wear.
Beyond simple conveyance, vibration feeders also perform a preliminary screening function. As materials move along the vibrating tray or pan, smaller particles can sift through grizzly bars or a mesh screen integrated into the feeder deck. This rough screening separates finer material or undersize particles before they reach the crusher, improving overall process efficiency and protecting downstream equipment.
Driven typically by electromagnetic vibrators or unbalanced motors, the feeder generates controlled vibrations that cause material to hop or flow in a series of small jumps along the pan. Operating Principle

The structure of a vibrating feeder typically comprises the main body (trough/sieve box), support springs, a spring base, an exciter mechanism, a vibration motor (for motor-driven types), and sieve bars/grizzly sections.
Motor-Driven Vibrating Feeders:
Vibration Source: The vibration motor acts as the excitation source.
Mechanism: Centrifugal force is generated by the high-speed rotation of eccentric weights (rotors) attached to the motor shaft(s).
Motion: This force excites the sieve box or trough, causing it to undergo a circular or elliptical motion with a defined amplitude.
Material Movement: Positioned on an inclined surface, the material receives impulsive forces from this motion. This results in a continuous series of small throws or hops, propelling the material forward along the trough.
Electromagnetic Vibrating Feeders:
Core Components: The fundamental structure consists of a feeding trough and an electromagnetic exciter.
Vibration Source: The electromagnetic exciter generates controlled electromagnetic pulses.
Mechanism: These pulses rapidly attract and release an armature connected to the trough.
Motion: This action imparts a rapid, reciprocating linear vibration (typically at high frequency and low amplitude) to the trough.
